The Canadian Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCA) is proud to introduce the new Canadian Strength and Conditioning Professional (CSCP) certification pathway. Developed in partnership with the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP), this pathway establishes a nationally recognized standard for strength and conditioning (S&C) coaches in Canada. The CSCP provides a clear and credible route for emerging practitioners, while also recognizing the experience and expertise of established coaches currently serving athletes, clients and organizations across the country.

The CSCP establishes a clear and accessible pathway for S&C professionals at every stage of their career. Emerging coaches now have a structured route that combines science-based education, guided mentorship, and applied experience to help them enter the field with confidence and credibility. At the same time, experienced practitioners can pursue formal recognition of their expertise through the Legacy stream, ensuring their years of impact are acknowledged under a nationally aligned standard. Together, these pathways create a unified framework that supports coach development, strengthens hiring clarity for employers, and elevates the long-term growth of the S&C profession across Canada.

Legacy Distinction: A Recognition Pathway for Current Professionals

Separate from the CSCP levels, the Legacy Distinction acknowledges experienced Canadian S&C coaches already working in the field who meet the professional standards of CSCP without requiring mentorship or exam components.

For S&C professionals who already meet the Legacy requirements, the CSCP Legacy application provides an opportunity to gain formal national recognition for your experience and expertise. Because the mentoring pool for future New Professionals will be drawn first from Legacy-certified coaches, those interested are strongly encouraged to apply before the Legacy application window closes March 2026.
